Biography

Attorney Waltenberger was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, a graduate of William Horlick High School.  After High School, Attorney Waltenberger enrolled at Marquette University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and an Elementary Education Teaching Certification.  While enrolled at Marquette University, Attorney Waltenberger spent a summer abroad in Xalapa, Veracruz studying the Spanish language while learning about, and embracing the rich Mexican Culture he adores and respects.  While living in Xalapa, it was Attorney Waltenberger’s daily responsibility to accompany his host father, Raul, to the local Tortilleria to buy fresh tortillas for the daily meals.

After finishing his studies at Marquette University, Attorney Waltenberger wanted to challenge himself by moving away from his comfort zone, so he enrolled at Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Due to his interest in becoming a trial attorney, Attorney Waltenberger enrolled in the #1 ranked school in the country for Trial Advocacy. While at Temple University, Attorney Waltenberger earned the prestigious Barrister’s Award for distinguished class performance in Trial Advocacy.  He spent two summers interning in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.  The second summer was spent prosecuting misdemeanor offenses under certification from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.  That experience introduced Attorney Waltenberger to the courtroom where he obtained actual trial experience while carrying the full caseload of a junior prosecutor.  Attorney Waltenberger was also able to continue to foster his love of travel and diversity by studying abroad at Temple’s Rome, Italy Campus.

During his time at Temple University, Attorney Waltenberger’s father, who had been on dialysis for several years while battling kidney cancer, received the gift of life from none other than his wife, Attorney Waltenberger’s mother, who generously donated his father a kidney. Attorney Waltenberger has an exceptionally supportive and close family so after graduating with his law degree from Temple University, he returned to the Midwest to be closer to his family and settled in Milwaukee, a city he has always loved and considered home.

Since returning to Milwaukee 20 plus years ago, Attorney Waltenberger has dedicated himself to representing personal injury victims in complex million dollar cases, product liability cases, premises liability cases, significant dog bite injuries, and motor vehicle crashes.  Due to his success and reputation, Attorney Waltenberger has been honored with awards and designations over the years.  In his earlier days as an injury attorney, he was named a Wisconsin Super Lawyer Rising Star by his peers.  Additionally, Attorney Waltenberger has also previously been named by The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 for the State of Wisconsin.   He is a member of the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee and a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

Attorney Waltenberger has successfully represented thousands of innocent victims over the past 20 years.  He considers himself a straight shooter and believes open communication is an integral part of a successful attorney/client relationship.  Attorney Waltenberger’s educational background has given him an appreciation for how important it is to educate his clients about their cases during the course of representation.  Regardless of whether the case goes to trial or settles out of court, he takes the time to understand and appreciate what the accident victim is going through by listening to their needs, explaining their legal rights, and counseling them on the best course of action.

Attorney Waltenberger dedicates a significant portion of his injury practice to the Hispanic community.  He recognizes and understands that historically, the Hispanic community in the State of Wisconsin has been underserved on a professional basis.  Attorney Waltenberger began studying the Spanish language in Junior High School and has continued to relish the opportunity to serve Spanish speaking clientele at Gruber Law Offices.  He makes it his personal mission to ensure our clients are respected and that their legal rights are protected as they navigate the legal process.

In his free time. Attorney Waltenberger enjoys staying active with his wife, Jen, their three young children, and their Beagle, Walter. He is also an avid Wisconsin sports fan. Attorney Waltenberger firmly believes we all play a role in making Milwaukee a stronger and more vibrant community, a community that respects the rights of all, and a community that strives to give opportunity to all.
