Take a Drive to Kenosha for Family Fun

Kenosha’s Dinosaur Discovery Museum is a rare treat in the world of dinosaur museums because it focuses on the fossil record that links meat-eating dinosaurs and birds. Adults and children alike will love interactive exhibits like Little Clint. This permanent exhibit follows the story of a three-year-old Tyrannosaurus Rex from his hatching in Montana during the Cretaceous period to his arrival at the museum. The museum is also completely free though donations are encouraged, and suggested donations are only $3.

The Kenosha Civil War Museum is unique among Civil War museums because it focuses on the war from the perspective of those living in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin at the time. Over one million men from those seven states fought in the war, and the Union’s efforts relied on the food and raw materials produced in the upper Midwest to win the war. Permanent and changing exhibits highlight the times and struggles that real people from the region went through. 

Having the opportunity to take in Kenosha’s city parks is worth the drive alone.  From Petrifying Springs Park – the city’s oldest park and home to an 18-hole golf course – to Bristol Woods Park a 200-acre natural park that is home to both the Pringle Nature Center and Boundless Adventures — an aerial adventure park, the city’s park system is rich and diverse with wide-ranging offerings for the whole family.
