Biography

José A. Oviedo is a Personal Injury Attorney at Gruber Law Offices who is deeply committed to helping people who have been seriously injured.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Attorney Oviedo eventually immigrated to Florida, where his formal studies took place. Through his experiences, he learned the value of perseverance and determination, navigating the challenges of being an immigrant and working hard to achieve his goals. That same grit and tenacity are qualities he brings to every case he handles.

He excelled academically, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Certificate in Law, Ethics, and Society. He then attended Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he earned the Sports Law Certificate and contributed to the Sports Law Review.

Throughout  Attorney Oviedo’s graduate and undergraduate studies, his dedication to advocacy and community service stood out. In Florida, Attorney Oviedo founded an organization devoted to promoting social enrichment and empowerment for individuals with disabilities, helping families create meaningful connections and opportunities for engagement. While in law school, he collaborated on a 50-state research project published by United Policy Holders, ensuring that policyholders across the country understand their rights against insurers.

Before joining Gruber Law Offices, Attorney Oviedo worked as a personal injury defense attorney, gaining invaluable experience in insurance defense and civil litigation. That experience gives him a unique perspective on how insurance companies and defense attorneys approach cases—and it fuels his passion for advocating for those who have been injured.

A native Spanish speaker, José works with both Spanish and English-speaking clients, guiding them through the legal process with warmth, understanding, and dedication.

Outside of the office, José enjoys spending time with his close-knit family and pursuing his lifelong love of baseball. A former competitive player, he brings the strategy, teamwork, and competitive spirit he learned on the field to every case he handles.
